Description

In this assignment we want you to understand (sample company) vision and values and the culture within which you work. You will reflect upon the experience to improve your ability to engage in conversations with  team members about the (sample company) story.

Outcomes

  • Managers will build team focus and enthusiasm through the integration of the (sample company) vision and values into conversations with team members.
  • Managers will make decisions that reinforce the delivery of the (sample company) vision and values to team members.

Performance tasks

  • Given the reading (see assignments below), identify two opportunities in which you could or could have discussed the mission, vision, and values of (sample company).
  • Given the reading (see assignments below), identify two incidents in which you discussed the mission, vision, and values of (sample company) with team members.

Week 2 assignment

Read the article on how to integrate mission, vision, and values into the everyday management of an organization. Read the (sample company) vision and values. Read the (sample company) other information.

Reflect on how you can integrate the (sample company) vision and values into your conversations with your team members. How can you create enthusiasm around the (sample company) branding statement? Be prepared to share your insights in the workshop.

Optional reading available in a pre-determined location if you would like to learn more: Harvard Business Review Article, My Week as a Room-Service Waiter at the Ritz.

Based on your readings in assignments one, two, and three, write your reflections about how you are going to use the (sample company) story into your daily conversations and decisions. This can be hand written or word processed.

I expect your writing ability to improve as you move through this program. I would far rather have you seriously reflect on your thoughts and write them down than try to write perfectly. Writing improvement will come with practice.

"If you do nothing, you will not make a mistake." To learn you must expose yourself to mistakes. "Perfectionists simply have found a way to never deliver a solution." Why, what they have done is never good enough to deliver.

Are you ready to move on?

When you are finished with the assignment from the week two self-study learning assignment, please go onto the self-study learning assignment page to confirm the date of workshop one and pick up the assignment for week three. If you have any questions, please contact your instructor

We recommend that you build ongoing conversations with your fellow learners via the discussion board
