Description
Meetings are not a necessary evil in an organization. Meetings are a critical
process to link people together, give and receive information, solve problems,
make decisions, and open up channels of communication. If you have had poor
experiences in meetings, it is probably because they were not stellar examples
of a well run meeting. The purpose of this module is to give you the tools to
plan and run effective meetings that get the results that you envision. These
meetings can be just you and someone else, or a group of people coming together
for a specific purpose. Either way, the principles are the same. Implementing
coaching as you have learned it, requires a strong understanding of how to
conduct a meeting. This module like the coaching module is a large module and
should challenge you as a manager.
- As a manager, you will regularly plan and execute effective meetings.
- A a meeting participant, you will fulfill your role effectively and help
the meetings that you participate in be successful.
Performance tasks
Before the next workshop, plan and execute a meeting with your team based on

for assigning work. Being able to assign work in a group setting or one on one
is critical for you to be able to get the work of the enterprise done and done
with little rework.
Reflect on how you are going to change the way to interface with others on your
team and others in the organization to create better communication and a more
empowered team delivering better value to the guests of (Sample Company). Be prepared
to share your thoughts during the last workshop. Read the quote below. How do
meetings, conversation, and person to person contact help us cope with this.
"Interconnected systems are always this sensitive. Activities occurring in one
part of the system always affect many other parts of the system. The nature of
the global business environment guarantees that no matter how hard we work to
create a stable and healthy organization, our organization will continue to
experience dramatic changes far beyond our control."
~ Dr. Margaret Wheatley
